40 General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Childcare Teacher, the duties of the Childcare Teacher Assistant include, but are not limited to, hands-on instruction of children between six (6) weeks and five (5) years of age within the childcare program.
Key
Responsibilities:
Participates with children in classroom activities to promote child development in all areas:
cognitive, social, emotional, physical, language and daily living skills.
Assists in planning, preparation, set up and cleanup of daily activities.
Maintains a clean and orderly environment for the children to include following procedures for sanitation and safety guidelines.
Assists children with self-care activities.
Assisting with writing and posting the daily schedules and lesson plans.
Maintains positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
Works under the guidance of the classroom teacher; adheres to policies.
Meets or exceeds yearly requirements for continuing education.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Knows fire, disaster, and safety procedure and regulations as it pertains to work area.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
High School diploma or GED required.
Work
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in an early childhood program preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
DCF 40 hour Introductory Training within 12 months of hire.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
